Plan for 11/12 through 11/15

Progress Reports are scheduled to come home on Friday.

Math

This week, the students will be reviewing how to divide with a remainder and how to solve story problems.  Please continue to drill multiplication facts (especially 3, 4, 5, and 6) with your child daily. Also, please continue review with them how division and multiplication relate.  We do this in class, but they need lots of repetition.

On Friday, the students will be taking a test.  Students need to review, review, review, and memorize, memorize, memorize their multiplication facts... especially 3, 4, 5, and 6.

Language Arts

This week, we will continue to look at different kinds of contractions such as isn'taren't, and won't.  Also, we will be discussing there is and there are.

Reading

We should finish reading Swiss Family Robinson by the end of this week.  Again, there may be surprise quizzes on what we've been reading.  Please continue to encourage your child to read for at least 20 minutes each evening

Science

Students need to continue to work on their Science Notebook projects which will be on-going into December.  The Science Notebook projects will be due on Thursday, December 12.  If your child will not be in school on that day or on the last day prior to Christmas Break, he/she will need to turn it in BEFORE they leave school for Christmas Break.  Please carefully read the information sheet I sent home.  If you have questions, please let me know.  Your child's grade on this project will depend in large part on how well he or she follows directions... including turning it in ON TIME!  (If it is not turned in prior to Christmas Break, your child will lose at least three letter grades on this project.  At best, he/she will make a D.)

There is to be a Science quiz on Wednesday covering pages 66-73.

History

This week, we will begin to look at George Washington.

Spelling

Due to a shorter week, the pre-test for list 14 will be on Thursday.  And, the final test will hopefully be on Friday.
